What is a Literacy Bus?

A literacy bus, also known as a bookmobile or mobile reading center, is a fully customized learning space built inside a converted school bus. Designed to bring books and reading resources directly to students and communities, these buses create accessible, engaging environments that promote literacy and a love of reading.

Unlike STEM buses, which prioritize open workspace for hands-on activities and equipment, literacy buses are designed with built-in shelving, comfortable seating, and dedicated reading areas. This creates a welcoming, library-like atmosphere where students can explore books, read comfortably, and develop strong literacy skills.
